Maverick
Maverick Helicopters, Inc. provides helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon, the Las Vegas strip, Northern Arizona, and Hawaii. Maverick operates from five terminals — Las Vegas (at McCarran International Airport), Henderson Executive Airport, Grand Canyon South Rim, Grand Canyon West Rim and Maui, Hawaii. In addition to tours, the Company generates revenue through food and beverage sales, gift shop sales, photo and video services, and other non-flight offerings.\r\n\r\nThe Company was heavily impacted by the pandemic, as much of the Company’s revenue is driven by tourism. Bookings rebounded quickly once state health restrictions were lifted, and Maverick, back on solid financial footing, secured traditional financing. NCF’s QLICIs were instrumental in helping Maverick weather pandemic-related closures and the slowdown of the Las Vegas tourism industry, during which several competitors permanently ceased operations. Since our investment, Maverick has expanded into new markets and continued its strong emphasis on safety and operational excellence, earning the FAA’s Diamond Award for maintenance excellence for 14 consecutive years.\r\n\r\nAt the time of our $2.5M debt investment, the Company’s Nevada-based workforce included 195 employees with an annual average wage that was 1.21x the living wage. Maverick offered benefits including health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) plan with a company match, training programs, performance-based bonuses, paid vacation, and paid sick leave.
